5 FREE Ways To Support Your Health

January has a funny way of making us believe that health lives behind a paywall. New plans, new programs, new memberships everywhere you look.

But before you commit to anything new, there are a few foundational habits that support your body, mind, and energy that are completely free.

💥 Morning stretch
A few minutes of gentle movement in the morning increases blood flow, wakes up your nervous system, and reduces stiffness from sleep and long workdays. It’s a signal to your body that the day has started and that it’s safe to move. This can be as little as a few simple stretches.

💥 Get outside for 5–10 minutes in the morning (coffee or tea in hand counts ☕️)
Morning light exposure helps regulate your circadian rhythm, which directly impacts energy, mood, focus, and sleep quality. Think of sunlight as your body’s natural “on switch.” This one is HUGE! I promise you’ll notice a difference in mood and energy on this one.

💥 Walk or spend time in outdoor movement
Walking is one of the most underrated health tools we have! It supports blood sugar balance, digestion, cardiovascular health, and stress reduction all while giving your brain a break from constant stimulation. No matter what is going on in my life, I always feel better after taking a walk outside!

💥 Read (both fiction and nonfiction)
Reading improves cognitive function, reduces stress, and builds mental flexibility. Fiction helps with empathy and creativity; nonfiction helps with learning and perspective. Both give your nervous system a pause from screens and scrolling which is something everyone reading this post needs! 😉

💥 Meditation or mindfulness time
This doesn’t have to look “perfect.” Sitting quietly with your eyes closed and noise-canceling headphones counts. Even a few minutes can lower stress hormones, support emotional regulation, and help reset an overstimulated mind. This is the most important (and most difficult) one on this list! The action of telling yourself to just stop and do it is the most difficult part, but once you do it, I promise you will feel so much better.

Health doesn’t always come from doing more. Sometimes it comes from doing simpler things consistently.

If this week feels overwhelming, start with just one. Small, free habits practiced daily create powerful long-term change.
